Be Car Care Aware

 

 

Plan proactively and exhibit good driving habits.

  • Use proper fuel. Don't use leaded gas if your car was made to operate on unleaded. The money saved by using the wrong fuel will eventually cost you more when that fuel damages the vehicle.

  • Observe speed limits. The faster you drive on the highway, the more fuel you burn.

  • Avoid jack-rabbit starts.

  • Shut off engine if at any point in time you have stop for more than a minute.

  • Revving the engine just before shutting off the ignition consumes extra fuel and may damage the engine.

  • Carry as little extra weight as possible, as excess weight will help cut mileage.

  • Make a list of combined errands before starting out.

  • Avoid as many cold starts as possible.

Take care of your tires

Neglected tires have the potential of costing the motorist a lot of money and trouble. Therefore:

  • Check tire pressure with a gauge once per month.

  • Inspect tires closely for signs of uneven wear at least once a month. If uneven wear appears, you may need a front-end alignment, wheel balance or new shocks.

  • Rotate your tires as recommenced by the manufacturer. This helps increasing the life of your tires.
